1157 and 2057 lamps...what is the difference?

Hello,

I was replacing one of my turn signals and i noticed that they have a 2057 and a
1157 both NA (amber)...what is the difference? are they brighter?

The 1157 series uses '70s technology when they thought the bulbs couldn't
get and brighter, so they standardized them. Well, as time would have it,
technology marches on and the 2057 series are using newer technology and
standards for brighter bulbs with less power. I think a new type of bulb
has now been standardized, maybe the 2157 series...I can't remember for
sure.

The short answer: yes they are brighter, but they probably should not
be interchanged. They use different amounts of power and the sockets
(I believe) are slightly different. (I never need 2057s... my newest car is a '74)
