Switching from 225/60/16 to 225/50/16

I have 225/60/16s on my 1991 Mustang.  When I switch over to
225/50/16s, should I worry about switching the speedo gear to get an
accurate reading?

How do Goodyear Eagle GT+4s perform as compared to BFGOODRICH
Comp TAs VR4?

Please send e-mail to

thanks,

Mike

Well, look at it this way.  A 10% decrease in aspect ratio will net
you a total decrease of 45mm in height (22.5mm on the "top" and 22.5 on the
bottom).  That equates to roughly an inch and a half.  With six*** inch
wheels, your 225/60 should have a diameter of approximately 26 inches, and the
225/50, approximately 24.5 or a total decrease of 6%.  This is also almost
exactly the increase in final drive you would net by switching from 3.08 to
3.27 gears.  So, if you have the stock rear-end, put in a 3.27 speedo gear and
you should be back on track.

        Uh... dunno...

It will look stupid if you don't drop the car about an inch or less!!

Been there done that, once I dropped it, it looked great.

Unless you have changed the speedo gear once already, it is already off.
Your car came stock with 225/55/16s on it, right in the middle of the 2
tires you are contemplating.
